a Book Talk by Dr. Alda Benjamen, followed by a Reception

Alda Benjamen is an assistant professor of history at University of Dayton. She was recently Avimalek Betyousef Faculty Fellow in the History Department and the Center for Middle East Studies at UC Berkeley. She is interested in public history, archival research and organization, and community engagement.

In part of her talk, Dr. Benjamen will discuss how she drew upon oral and ethnographic sources and documents in Arabic and modern Aramaic  to explore the role of minorities in Iraq’s intellectual and political opposition.
